Brown Love Stories: Denise and Jason

January 12, 2015
Hello, everyone! I am so excited to present to you today a lovely couple that I have had the pleasure to get to know: one of my fellow BLM girls, Denise from Mom Talk with Denise LaRosa and her husband, Jason. What a beautiful example of black loveI hope that you enjoy!
1. Names (Hers and His)
Denise and Jason

2. Ages ( Hers and His)
 both 33yrs old

3. Length of relationship

4. How did you two meet?
My best friend, who just so happened to be Jason's God sister, set us up on a blind date at the bowling alley. I hate blind dates, but whenever I saw this good looking guy walk into the bowling alley, I said to myself, "Please let that be Jason! He's fine!"

5. What makes your relationship "quirky" or unique?
We were both in the marching band in high school. I'm from WV and he's from PA, but our bands competed against each other at a competition back in 1996. I remember my mom telling me about this nice lady from PA that she spent the day with at the competition. Come to find out it was Jason's mother! Jason and I didn't even meet until 2005! They couldn't believe their eyes whenever they reconnected through us! Now they share grandbabies. <3
6. What is one quirky habit that you have learned about him?
Whenever Jason wants to learn how to do something - from recipes to web building - he looks up videos on YouTube. I have picked up that habit and it's helped me tremendously with my business!

7. What is one quirky habit that you have learned about her?
Denise's entire day will be thrown off if she doesn't have her coffee! A caffeinated wife means a happy life! Out of all the gifts I've given her, the Keurig was her favorite!

8. Quirkiest moment and/or adventure?
I had just bought a new car. We went to the grocery store and went to put the groceries in my car and noticed a huge dent in the bumper. We were heated! We were grabbing people, asking if they saw who had done it. I called my brother going off about it. Then all of a sudden I looked at the rear view mirror and didn't see my cross. I looked over at Jason and said, "Uh this is not my car boo." LOL
9. What will the back cover or your love story read.
Though the road we've traveled has been full of ups and downs, we travel the journey together.

Brown Love Stories: Elle and Justin

January 01, 2015
Happy New Year everyone! What better way to start off the new year than with a story of love! Meet Elle, the lovely diva behind the creative blog Stacie Stiletto, and her long-term boyfriend, Justin.
1. Names (Hers and His)
Elle and Justin

2. Ages ( Hers and His)
28 (Elle) and 31 (Justin)

3. Length of relationship

4. How did you two meet?
We met downtown at the underground mall in Atlanta, Georgia. We kept looking at and passing each other. I would slow my pace, smile, and bat my lashes but we both kept going. Right when I was getting ready to leave the mall I saw Justin coming from the other direction walking towards me. I knew that it was now or never.

( I was here for school and I knew that once I left I would probably never see him again)

I made sure that I was in his direct path so that when we got closer one of us would have to step to the side so that the other could pass or go around. We were standing in front of one another and I said to him
“You can’t keep walking by me and not speaking… I mean, you’re cute, I'm cute, we may as well be cute together. Hi, I’m Elle” (smile)

Cheesy I know lol but it worked. We exchanged numbers and we went out that same night.

5. What makes your relationship "quirky" or unique?
(Justin) What makes our relationship “quirky” and unique would be our different personalities. She has a LARGER THAN LIFE personality, she is glitz and glam and very over the top. She is the life of the party type.
(Elle) Justin is super chill and laid back. My honey has an old soul. I like to go out and interact, mix and mingle with the people and my honey is just fine with the two of us. My mother describes us as the calm before the storm (.giggles.)

We are the true definition of Yin and Yang. We are extremely different yet we complement each other well.

6. What is one quirky habit that you have learned about him?
I’ve learned that he doesn’t get excited about things the way I do. His “I WON A FREE FLASH LIGHT” face is the same as his “I WON A FREE CAR” face.
He would buy me a gift and I would be all giggly, screaming, jumping, and super excited!!!!!!!!
I would buy him a gift and he would smile, give me a hug and a kiss and say thanks. When we first started dating it would bother the heck out of me. I assumed that because he was not bouncing off the walls that he didn’t really like the gift. Over the years I’ve learned that that’s just the way he is.

7. What is one quirky habit that you have learned about her?
I’ve learned that she can never have too many wigs or books. She reads like its nobody’s business. She gets lost in books. Elle would be reading and next thing I know a book would go flying across the room because she is upset at something that happened in the book or she would be yelling at one of the characters.

8. Quirkiest moment and/or adventure?
Our quirkiest moment would have to be when we went to the Netherworld Haunted house for Halloween. I was beyond terrified. I remember going through the section of the haunted house where the fog/smoke was so thick that you could cut it with a knife. I was walking in front of Justin and his arms was wrapped around my waist, holding my body close against his and I just felt so loved and protected… its hard to put in to the words what I felt at the moment. As we were being chased out of the house with monsters swinging chainsaws at us, I remember being all smiley and “flirty” as we ran to “safety”.

9. What will the back cover or your love story read?

“This isn’t a love story. Love stories are so final. . . Happily Ever After. This is a story about break ups, make ups and everything in between. This is a story of how two people learn to love, support, and try not to kill one another all the while trying to raise children and find their “place/purpose” in the world.”
