An Introduction To New York Filmmaker, Chels The Director

With the current rise of Black women behind the camera, it is only right that we spotlight Chels the Director, also known as “Chel$y O”, or Chelsea Odufu.

Currently residing in New York, Chelsea has been disrupting the independent film world. This multi-faceted creatress is a director to look out for. When checking out her website “O Chelsy” you will not only find trailers for her award winning films, but you will also find her explorations in photography and music videos and some exclusive behind the scenes events.
She is Black Girl Magic in full motion. Her Afro-Caribbean roots are reflected within her films, and her style is incomparable.

Her Instagram is full of vibrant colors that keep me scrolling and wanting to know her next move. She’s also been featured on some dope websites, too.

You want to know why this spotlight is important? Because the rise of women in the film industry is important. In a time where politics and agenda are overpowering the strides that women of color behind and in front of the lens. Representation is important and Chels the Director is showing us that she is representing black girl magic to the fullest, and it is amazing.
