Changing The Discussion On Black Fathers- 21 Pictures of Everyday Black Fathers

May 29, 2015
Last month, I wrote an article called The New Standard for Young, Black Fathers that addressed the stereotype that Black fathers are absentee in their children's lives. One question that I asked was "what comes to mind when you hear someone say 'young, black father'?" Thanks to shows like The Maury Show, media "statistics" and even personal experience for some, our perception of Black fathers is not the best.

But what about all of the Black fathers out there that are raising our future professionals and entrepreneurs right now?

Recently, I came across a blog on Tumblr called Dont Believe The Hype that displays Black fathers from all different backgrounds who are raising their children. I love that the curator of this blog features families in all different stages of the children's lives to show that Black fathers are there from the beginning, intermediate stages, graduation and beyond. Why Jidenna is the Perfect Role Model for the Millennial Black Male

May 14, 2015
This Brooklyn-raised singer of the instant hit "Classic Man" is winning over the hearts of music lovers everywhere. With the mentorship of Janelle Monae as the newest member of the Wondaland label, Jidenna is destined for success. He has an amazing voice, has charming style and is absolutely dapper.

I remember when I first heard "Classic Man" on the radio, I couldn't stop singing and dancing to it. It's one of those songs that get stuck in your head and you don't feel vulgar singing it in public. There is something so special about the sound of his music; however, it was when I watched the music video that I absolutely fell in love with the image that Jidenna and Wondaland are projecting.

Brown Love Stories: Stephen and Ayesha Curry

May 07, 2015
One of our favorite young NBA 'celebrity' couples is Stephen and Ayesha Curry. Matt made me put 'celebrity' in quotations because he actually grew up with the Currys and Ayesha was a good friend of his sister. Nonetheless, Stephen, Ayesha are adorable and I am excited to share with you this amazing family!
Stephen and Ayesha met in their church youth group in Charlotte, NC and had been dating since 2008. They spent their first date together running around Hollywood, where Ayesha lived to pursue acting and Stephen visited for a basketball camp. Years later, Stephen proposed to Ayesha at his parents house, the site of their first kiss, and they married in the summer of 2011. Now, the couple has a beautiful daughter, Riley and have another baby on the way in a few months!

Watch this couple for a few minutes, and you'll have no doubt that they were meant for each other. They both have an interesting sense of humor and appreciate each other's quirks.

6 Amazing Recipes To Spice Up Your Sunday Brunch

May 02, 2015
One tradition that has held, whether you are carefree or a person who likes the weekly gossip, is Sunday Brunch. Something about warm french toast, hash browns and bottomless mimosas just makes the upcoming work week all worth it. I'm the type of girl that can eat breakfast at anytime of the day, so "brunch" can be any day of the week. For my like-minded folks out there, here is a list of creative recipes to add to your weekly brunch repertoire:

1. Chicken & Waffle Sliders
Chicken & Waffles is a classic brunch recipe that everyone looks forward to trying. For your next brunch party, try setting out these adorably delicious chicken and waffle sliders, drizzled in syrup. Recipe here.

2. Frittaffles
Now doesn't this look fancy? Who knew that you could throw these ingredient into a waffle iron? Recipe here.

3. Blood Orange Mimosa Jello Shots
How cute is this? I actually got this idea from a friend. This idea is great for brunch or to confuse your friends at a party. Word of advice: use small oranges, let the jello set well before cutting, and use the left over oranges for a marmalade or for juicing. Recipe here.
